Dr. Patrick Oxciano
MD, FRCPC - Physician
After working as an emergency physician at Vancouver General Hospital for 8 years, Dr. Oxciano decided to re-enter training in Pain Medicine after seeing a need for new and innovative ways to meet the demands of chronic pain patients presenting to the emergency department. He was subsequently accepted and completed the Royal College training in Pain Medicine at UBC, working under chronic pain leaders in the province at the Jim Pattison Outpatient Centre, St. Paul’s Hospital, and Bill Nelems Pain & Research Centre. Dr. Oxciano also completed training at the Pain School International in Budapest, learning from leaders in interventional pain management from Europe and USA.
Dr. Oxciano continues to practice emergency medicine at Burnaby Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital, and Eagle Ridge Hospital.
He also works at the Chronic Pain Clinic at Jim Pattison Outpatient Centre in Surrey.
He has an interest in improving pain education for emergency medicine residents and the management of chronic pain patients in the emergency department.
Dr. Oxciano is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine.
